A sound of thunder
2.A touch of the hand and this burning would, on the instant, beautifully reverse itself. Eckels remembered the wording in the advertisements to the letter. Out of chars and ashes, out of dust and coals, like golden salamanders, the old years, the green years, might leap; roses sweeten the air, white hair turn Irish-black, wrinkles vanish; all, everything fly back to seed, flee death, rush down to their beginnings, suns rise in western skies and set in glorious easts, moons eat themselves opposite to the custom, all and everything cupping one in another like Chinese boxes, rabbits into hats, all and everything returning to the fresh death, the seed death, the green death, to the time before the beginning. A touch of a hand might do it, the merest touch of a hand.
The stomp of your foot, on one mouse, could start an earthquake.
There was a sound like a gigantic bonfire burning all of Time, all the years and all the parchment calendars, all the hours piled high and set aflame.
Transferring the quality years to parchment
3.
4. In the beginning a sound of thunder is the T-Rex however at the end the sound of thunder is the gun.

Climax in The Landlady
I think that the climax is when Billy signs the book. I think that this is the climax because while signing the guest book he realizes that there have only two other people who stayed in this Bed and Breakfast in over two years. The names of the people also seemed familiar to Billy. This seemed strange to him.
“Well, you see, both of these names—Mulholland and Temple—I not only seem to remember each one of them separately, so to speak, but somehow or other, in some peculiar way, they both appear to be sort of connected together as well. As though they were both famous for the same sort of thing, if you see what I mean—like . . . well . . . like Dempsey and Tunney, for example, or Churchill and Roosevelt.”

7. Short ending
I like the story the ending is short but I think that all the elemants such as forshadowing, imagery and discribtion make the story much more interesting. It leaves you in suspence with the ladlady saying "No only you." it makes you think what will happen next. Will he die? Or will he survive? In conclusion I like the ending because it leaves you in suspence.

5. Imagery
There are a lo of exaples of imagery in The Landlady for example he discibes how the dog was feeling even though he was dead, "the back was cold and hard, and when he pushed the hair to one side with his fingers, he could see the skin grayish-black and dry and perfectly preserved. In conclusio I think that this story has a lot of interestting imagery .

6. What has the landlady been up to?
You can tell that the landlady has been up to no good by the way that she gave Billy tea that faintly tasted of burnt almonds. It is good that he did not drink it because if he would have then he would have been poisened. They reason that this shows that the landlady has been up to no good is that she tried to poison him meaning that she want to kill him or something like she kille the other 2 men. An other reason that you can telll that the landlady is up to no good is that the landlady kept on looking at Billy which means that she was intressted in him and that she might do something to him. In conclusion I thing that the landlady is up to no good.
4. Look up "smell of burnt almonds"
The smell of burnt almonds is used when something is incredibly poisonous to humans which makes me think that if I would have known thar from the beginning I would have know that she is trying to kill him.
3. Inference and Foreshadowing
How is foreshadowing different than inference?
Foreshadowing is what the author puts into the work, the hints about what is going to happen. Inferences would be the way the reader interprets these hints, when the reader sees ideas in the work that are not expressed directly by the author. Inferences should be based on evidence that is found in the text, however.
How are foreshadowing and inferance similar?
They are both based on evidence.
Give an example of inference from the story.
An example of inferance in the story is the dog sleeping in front of the fireplace which makes him think that this is a safe place.

2. Foreshadowing
Foreshadowing is an advance sign or warning of what is to come in the future. The author of a mystery novel might use foreshadowing in the early chapter of his book to give readers an inkling of an impending murder.
When you want to let people know about an event that is yet to occur, you can use foreshadowing. Foreshadowing is used as a literary device to tease readers about plot turn.
An example is " The tea tasted faintly of bitter almonds, and he didnt much care for it." The tea has been poisoned, and Billy will be the landladys next victim.
