Rainbow paragraph

         Rainbow Poem

My heart leaps up when I behold
A rainbow in the sky:
So
 was it when my life began;
So is it now I am a man;
So be it when I shall grow old,
Or let me die!
The Child is the father of the Man;
And I could wish my days to be
Bound each to each by natural piety.

Or let me die!The rainbow poem is by William Wordsworth.The big idea of the poem is how he wants to have the same feeling of seeing a rainbow forever. The metaphors, the repetition, the jump shift, the imagery and reversing all show how much this feeling matters to him. The big idea of the poem is how he wants to have this feeling forever.

Repetition is an important tool in poetry. This poem uses repetition at the beginning of each new line this is called anaphora. He does this to show the desired continuity through his life. "So be it when I shall grow old" shows that he wants to have this forever. "So was it when my life began" shows that he has liked rainbows since he was small. "So is it now I am a man" shows that his heart still leaps up when he sees a rainbow and how it had lasted for a long time. The repetion of "so" shows a sense of continuity through his life.

Jump shift is an important tool in poetry. This poem uses jump shift to turn the tone from positive to negative. "Or let me die" shows his fear of loosing that feeling. The poem uses the jump shift to turn the tone from negative to positive to reinforce the idea that he wants the continuity to last forever or he will die. The use of the jump shift is powerful.

Metaphors are an important tool in poetry. A metaphor is when you transfer an equality from one thing to an other. This poem uses a metaphor at the beginning of the poem to transvere the equilty of leaping to the heart which doesn't actually leap. "My heart leaps up" shows the joy he has. The use of the metaphor at the beginning of the poem to transvere the equilty of leaping to the heart which doesn't actually leap.

Imagery is an important tool in poetry. Imagery is when you use any of your five senses to describe something, sight, taste, sound, touch and smell. The poet that wrote this poem mostly uses imagery of sight. "A rainbow in the sky" is one example of the image of sight because it tells us what the poet wants us to see. This poem uses imagery of sight.

Reversing the natrual order of life is an important tool in this poem. The poet reverses the natrual order of life to show how he wants this feeling to last forever. "The child child is the father of the man" shows that he wants this feeling to last forever. He uses the reverses the natrual order of life to show he he wants this feeling to last forever.

The big idea of the poem is how he wants to have this feeling forever. The metaphors, the repetition, the jump shift, the imagery and reversing all show how much this feeling matters to him. The big idea of the poem is how he wants to have this feeling forever.
